Be cautious - 13-cup has strong motor

Submitted by MazeMan - 7/10/2017

Have the 13cup KitchenAid Food Processor and was using the big multi-purpose blade to mix ingredients for sausage balls (1lb sausage, cheese, etc) to take on vacation. Everything was running smoothly until it stopped churning. Investigating, the blade would not detach. After struggling, I finally got it detached, could not see anything obvious that was wrong. Re-attached and continued but still did not work properly. Again it would not detach but when it did now see the issue. The motor apparently reamed out the blade shaft and no longer seats. Therefore the blade it shot which is crippling. :( We have many other KitchenAid products and enjoy them.

Multi blade didn't last long

Submitted by Angel - 6/11/2017

I received this as a gift and I was really excited about the features. After a few uses, the multipurpose blade broke. I am bummed that you he blade didn't not last but a few uses. :( the other issue is the top lid collected dirty dish water and drowns inside where you can't get to clean. It is clear plastic so it is ugly. If I had known this mught be an issue, I would've washed differently to try to avoid this. That is less of a concern than the blade already not working.

A good asset but...

Submitted by Laura - 4/1/2017

The kitchenaid good processor is a very good appliance that helps make meal preparations a lot easier but it pains me a lot that the multipurpose blade which is most often needed is rusted and the adaptor for same cracked while the appliance is still fairly new. It sits idle most often because it's not too helpful to me without the blade. I am not sure if I would recommend this to someone. Painful

You pay alot for this product and after a few uses it breaks

Submitted by Jan - 3/23/2017

I do not use this blade to often because I end up cutting myself on the blade when I pull it out when finished. I just wanted to make ham & pickle. 1 pc of ham a small chunk and it wouldn't turn. I pulled out the ham and tried it without and it spun around. I put the ham back in and it spun a few times and stopped. My daughter took the blade out of the bowl and it came out in pcs? I am so upset that this blade is broken. Why aren't they made stronger? This is a defective part it seems everyone is having the same problem.

Rust everywhere!

Submitted by Amanda - 1/23/2017

Almost every small electric in my kitchen is a beloved KitchenAid, and I've never had something like this happen before: my food processor's "multipurpose blade" stopped moving. I was only trying to make bread crumbs from fresh bread! I could hear the machine going, but the blade was just vibrating in place. After trying several machinations, I tugged--the blade came off leaving a plastic piece attached to the bowl and 2 rusted metal parts on the floor (then in my basset's mouth!). Whenever I've needed a part (such as a coffee carafe broken during a move), I've been able to get that replacement with no problem. That has not been my experience this time. Sounds like I'll be buying a new food processor...and it won't be KitchenAid for the first time in my 14 years of married life. :-(

Multi purpose blade is so stuck in my bowl won't spin,

Submitted by Nancyabd - 1/4/2017

My multipurpose blade gets so stuck in the bowl and is to difficult to remove it. I have the 13 cup food processor, and used it once a week to make chicken salad. When often times after several hours of trying and finally successfully pulling the blade out, the food left in the bowl flies everywhere. Now it is a paperweight. I am hesitant to invest money in a new blade. This is not a machine that was over used or abused. Just to grind chicken breasts and twice, hummus. I can't even give this thing away. My husband and I are both disabled and this was supposed to make things easier, instead it is a nightmare.

Submitted by KrisB - 12/29/2016

Broken Blade

Submitted by Disappointed Jane - 12/16/2016

I was surprised that the main blade broke within the first 3 months of use. We've tried to use it still with just one blade, but it makes the food processor jump all over the place with unbalanced vibrations. We're very dissatisfied, but they won't take it back.

Same problem, broken blade.

Submitted by Jonny's mad - 12/2/2016

Bought the food processor unit (model KFP09220B0) because it's KitchenAid, supposed to be a solid product. Used it A few times over the course of a year and not the internal components for you to the blade broke and the plate does not stay in place. Seems very dangerous, The blade razors off the base when the unit is running, creating high vibration. Seems very dangerous at such a high rpm. Looked online to purchase a new blade for replacement and they cost like $40 shipped! Expensive. Considering this is obviously a design flaw on their part, as every other complaint states the same problem, I feel KitchenAid should replace the part free of charge out of good faith for the customer. This shouldn't be such a common problem for an item that cost upwards of $150. Very disappointed.

Apparently the same problem as everyone else.

Submitted by annoyed and irritated - 12/1/2016

So the internal parts of my blade are falling apart same as everyone else apparently. My food processor (model KFP09220B0) is a little more than a year old, I don't really use it all that often, but now I can't use it at all. The blade won't lock onto the spinning mechanism, and when I turn the unit on the blade starts to rise off the base and seems almost a hazardous situation with the intense vibration and high-speed RPMs. This seems to be a problem that should be addressed, seeing as there are 40 or 50 other reviews with the exact same problem. Definitely seems like a design flaw. And the replacement part is like $30?! Unreal, and unfair. if anything, I feel KitchenAid should in good faith replace the faulty parts, I don't think the User should have to spend money on something that's built to break.

Submitted by Nidhi - 11/19/2016

My blade also seem to not connect with the shaft without any apparent reason. I think I have used this only a couple times with no reason for it to break. I agree with previous reviewers that this seems to be a design flaw. The blade became slow and stopped turning in a matter of minutes.

Blade broke

Submitted by Dino - 10/12/2016

The internal part of the blade became disconnected and will not reconnect, so the blade is no longer of use. This seems to be a design flaw. Other than the blade breaking, I was mostly satisfied with the product. I like the large work bowl, and the slicer and grater work well. Disappointed that the blade broke.

Looking for Mr. Good-blade

Submitted by Cheesecake King - 9/27/2016

I have purchased three Kitchen Aid 14C food processors and two of the three multi-purpose blades are of no use at all, because the internal stem has come disconnected and there is no way to fix it! The bases all work, but I am constantly running around, looking for the one remaining blade that is whole! Trying to make hummus or bread crumbs in the small bowl is messy and time consuming .... do I order new blades or continue to get a work-out, looking for Mr. Good-blade?

multipurpose blade

Submitted by bad blade - 8/29/2016

I have always owned kitchenaid products. Immersion blender, blender, mixer and food processor. The multipurpose blade on the food processor definitely has a design flaw. My blade just spins inside the bowl because there is a plastic stem that has stripped and just keeps spinning. I was merely pureeing soup!!!! You have to replace the entire blade and not just the defective stem.. Very troubling. I would not recommend this processor.

Blade doesn't lock in place

Submitted by Mike - 8/14/2016

I purchased this food processor less than 6 months ago. After using it about 8 or 10 times I was trying to make pesto (really soft stuff) and the blade would not lock down. There's a split ring ring inside the blade seat that is made of thin plastic and is broken. So the blade just moves up and down the blade shaft and food at the bottom of the bowl doesn't get chopped. That and the blade cavitates on the shaft, which has to be dangerous. $40 for a replacement that won't last either!

Submitted by Kate - 8/14/2016

While I am otherwise very satisfied with the food processor, it is very frustrating that the only large blade that fits in the main working bowl breaks after just a dozen uses, rendering the large bowl useless. It appears as though there is a major design flaw as so many people have had to reorder this particular blade, at a steep price no less. Very disappointed.

blade broke after a dozen uses

Submitted by Erynne - 8/8/2016

I really like KitchenAid, and when I needed a food processor, that's where I went to get one. This one worked great, while it worked. I had only used the big multipurpose blade maybe a dozen times when hummus was apparently too much to handle. I thought maybe I'd done something wrong, but I'd always hand washed the blade and wasn't sure how it could fall apart. I came here to reorder the blade to make salsa, after having the processor take up valuable counter real estate, collecting dust... It's so disappointing. I was hoping to have some kitchen help, not a hassle.

Submitted by Tiffany - 7/8/2016

Submitted by Steven - 7/2/2016

I purchased a new 13 cup food processor in February. After fewer than a dozen uses (maybe 1-2 times a month), this blade no longer locks. There's a ring or something broken in the inside. It just moves up and down the blade shaft, so things just sit on the bottom of the bowl. I have had this for less than a year but I don't have the receipt so I don't know if I can even get a replacement.

Blade shaft cracks after use

Submitted by Avid Baker - 3/11/2016

I'm a 4th generation Kitchen Aid owner. I've had my mixer 30 years. The 13 cup newer processor: nothing but problems with the main blade. Finally realised the inner shaft piece was cracked. After reading all these reviews, I, too, can't decide if it's worth spending $40 on a new blade. I'm not sure who currently owns Kit Aid nor where they are made, but there are quality issues in their processors.

My mom has had a kitchenaid mixer for at least 40 years. I love mine too, but this food processor is just horrible, I had the same issue with the blade as everyone else, and I probably haven't used it a dozen times, mostly for making tomato sauce. Also, very poorly designed, difficult to get clean, (not everyone owns a dishwasher), getting the top on and off requires enormous strength. I would rather purchase another whole machine than waste $40 on replacing the blade. I won't buy kitchenaid anything again.

Submitted by Wendy - 2/7/2016

I just bought this Food Processor on January 23, 2016. Was trying to chop up some cheese very fine and the blade wouldn't move so I took the top off to find pieces all over inside. This was the first time that I even got to use it and it broke on me! I have other KitchenAid products that I use all the time and love but I am very disappointed in this purchase as is my husband because he got it for me as a gift. If KitchenAid continues to make products that break the first time you use them, I will never buy another one of their products.

Submitted by Scrappy - 2/3/2016

I have owned my food processor for a little while and I was constantly having issues with the blade becoming stuck on the drive shaft. I thought it was just my unit. The last time it became so stuck that when my husband was finally able to release it, I found that it was now damaged. When I go to use the processor, the blade just travels up and down the drive shaft and is unable to perform any functions. Now I have to make the decision to replace the blade or just replace the entire unit.

Blade broke after a few uses

Submitted by Vincent - 1/21/2016

I bought this food processor about 3 years ago and did not use it much. The multi purpose blade broke in 4 pieces after only a few light uses. I am debating if I want to buy another blade or replace the processor to a different brand. Looking at the disassembled piece, it seems like the torque is transferred via a round shaft inside the blade and the design looks flawed. The blade for the small bowl transfers the torque via big flanges, which looks much more sturdy. Overall, the processor is a disappointment: -The blade breaking; -Difficult to wash (food trapped everywhere) -Big bowl needs washing when using small bowl -Pulse funciton not pulsing (lag in motor torque)

Blade broke

Submitted by Leah Lou - 1/1/2016

This food processor works decently, but I notice ingredients such as flour get underneath the blade. Also, when I used the processor to make pizza dough, the blade got stuck to the machine, where I couldn't lift the work bowl. I managed to pry the blade off of the machine, and was able to use the machine again, however the blade got stuck again, and now the blade is broken. I will either order a new blade and hope the new blade does not break or buy another product. My mother and mother-in-law both have a Cuisinart food processor, and have had no issues, so I may decide to purchase their model. I was hoping more from kitchenaid's processor because the 13 cup feature is so nice, and I have had great results from their mixer.

Submitted by MaddieO - 12/20/2015

I purchased the food processor as a gift for my mom a few Christmases ago. This year when baking, I asked if she still used it and she told me the multipurpose blade had broken at the drive shaft the first time she ever tried to use it to make hummus. She had been too upset to tell me that all the money I spent had been wasted on a horrible product. Thinking it was a fluke, I came here to buy another blade and drive shafts. After seeing everyone is having this issue, I won't waste my money again. I'll buy another brand food processor. My only wish is she had told me early because I had bought the replacement plan.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

Submitted by Ang the Paleo Girl - 12/18/2015

I've used this blade a handful of times and it got stuck in the bowl and I had to do all kinds of things to try and get it unstuck. That was a pain and I thought the headache was over, but I've just used it again and it is stuck once more. I feel like throwing it against a brick wall. I feel like I'm stuck with a like new processor that I can't use. I will not buy another of these.

Multipurpose blade poor quality

Submitted by Alanna the baby food maker - 12/17/2015

I have only used my processor a few times in the few years I have had the product. My blade broke just as others have reported, while mixing up 2 cups of pre cooked and mashed potatoes. I planned on using the food processor to prepare baby food, but it doesn't seem reliable if the blade breaks on an already soft food item and a small quantity...the blade shouldn't have been stressed under these conditions. Very disappointed in this feature.

Poor quality blade

Submitted by Kyya - 12/14/2015

I have only used my kitchenaid food processor a handful of times. While crushing chocolate cookies my blade stopped spinning while the motor was still running. I stopped the machine and took the blade off only to find out the middle shaft of the blade had disassembled. I only hand wash and then promptly dry it before storing. The blade is very cheaply made. I love my kitchenaid mixer but this makes me second guess buying anything, aside from a mixer, from them again.

Yep, just like previous reviews, our multi-purpose blade broke at the stem from the inside. Very disappointed and extremely frustrated. Seems like there is a design flaw if we're all having the same issue.

Consider before you buy

Bought this food processor 2 years ago and have been very disappointed with its performance. The multipurpose blade would never lock down and broke on the fourth use. I have been using the small bowl since then if I need to chop or purée anything. I was going to purchase a replacement blade but after reading the other reviews I think I might just buy a different food processor.

Blade Down

Submitted by Lady K - 12/2/2015

When it worked this blade was great. For the cost I did not expect to have issues with my blade after only a few uses. It broke at the worst time...preparing for Thanksgiving. It disassembled from the inside of the shaft. Same as pictured in the previous review. Fortunately my unit came with the smaller blade and bowl to get me through my dish as a back up, but this ment three separate baches instead of one (and a slight panic at the thought of not being able to finish cooking). Needless to say, I was surprised at the failure.
