Same Problem

Also hand wash my carafe, no dishwasher no stacking. Went to wash it this morning and the whole spout came off in my hand. Can't figure out your website or replacement for. Also, the first coffeemaker quit working a few weeks after purchase and you replaced it . My thanks for the excellent service

glass carafe broke within a few months of purchase.

Submitted by snookie k - 2/18/2017

The coffee maker made good coffee but the carafe broke just by setting it down on the cupboard. I am hesitant to buy a new carafe as I am not sure it will last and I will be out more money.

Sad that a carafe can make a great coffee maker just okay

Submitted by Tracy - 2/7/2017

I love everything about this coffee maker - the control of the flavor, pre-programmable, the style - it's fantastic. How a simple carafe can ruin the whole KitchenAid experience is disappointing. The spout always caused messes when trying to pour the water in. Everyday, no matter how hard I tried to be careful, water was always spilled from this dribbling carafe. I'm in a rush in the morning, so having to wipe up the mess (which inevitably would end up under the coffee maker making it even more difficult to clean up since I'd have lift the entire coffee maker to clean it up), makes me run behind. What took the cake is the day my carafe broke on my while my coffee was brewing. A chunk from the bottom of the carafe just "blew out" while it was on the warming plate. This may well be my last KitchenAid purchase.

SAD!

Submitted by Beth - 1/17/2017

Just bought the KitchenAid KCM1204 two weeks ago and the carafe is already broken. I don't have a dishwasher and this is the last thing I wash so it rests on top. I am the only one who uses the pot and I try to be careful. It seems that this is too fragile to be sold. Maybe they need to go back to the drawing board. The coffee machine is fantastic! The carafe is AWFUL!

Spout is broken and I don't know how...

Submitted by Steve - 1/4/2017

I used the maker this morning and always wash after using. I cut my finger and discovered the spout is broken. I've only had the coffee maker for about two (2) month and this happens. When it happened I can't remember and the glass parts must be in the disposal. Looking for a replacement alternative that will last and work better. Yes I also get drips and dribbles, must pour over the sink not spill over the counter. Saw the thermal carafe, however, it's not for this model. Kitchen aid do you have any suggestions other than replacing with same pot?

Too fragile

Submitted by Slapp07 - 11/21/2016

Like many others, I, too, have noticed the spillage and dribble while pouring. Not to mention, I set this carafe down on my granite counter top and the bottom cracked. I am now out of a coffee pot and feeling uneasy about ordering a replacement carafe after this experience.

Drip, dribble and spill

Submitted by Stephanie - 11/18/2016

This coffee pot dribbles coffee and water all over! Also very fragile as it is now broken. Poor design. Unfortunate because all my appliances are Kitchen Aid and are all a better quality and design. Disappointed in purchase of the KCM1202.

Lousy carafe, great pot!

Submitted by Oneyendor - 8/22/2016

It's impossible to pour a cup of coffee without spilling. The curvature on the lip of the pouring recess invites dribble back. Also breaks/cracks easily. I realize thin glass transfers heat more effectively but this is too thin making it so fragile that it breaks even with careful use. Note to Kitchen Aid design- coffee pots that have the "coffee ready" buzz tone should have an on/off feature. I can't use the programmer without waking other family members.

Fragile carafe

Submitted by LOC - 2/22/2016

This was a Christmas present. It brews great coffee but the carafe broke yesterday while I was hand washing it. I see that this is a recurring problem. I never had this occur with my Braun coffeemaker. In fact, this is the first broken carafe I have had in all of the years that I have been brewing coffee.

It's glass. Glass breaks

Submitted by Suzeegirl - 1/14/2016

I bought this coffeemaker in March 2014 and we love it because it keeps coffee hot. It's almost 2 years later and I broke the spout on the glass carafe HAND washing it! It's been through my KitchenAide dishwasher numerous times but it was me hand washing that broke the spout. It's glass and glass breaks. This is not unlike any other glass carafe coffee pot we have owned. I would also add that yes unless you are pouring the coffee very slowly into the cup you will need to wipe up. KitchenAide folks it's a design flaw. Make the lip a little larger and the glass lip a bit stronger and it's a winner.

Just another case of broken glass

Submitted by NickAtNight - 1/14/2016

I first thought I was just misfortunate in having my carafe break while hand-washing just a few weeks after purchasing this coffee maker. But now I see I'm one of the many who have had this problem. I love the unit but would have thought twice if I had known it came with the burden of regular carafe replacements at $20+ a pop.

Submitted by Carolyn - 1/13/2016

We bought the KitchenAid 12-cup coffee maker just a few months ago. Switching from a Cuisinart coffeemaker, we purchased the KitchenAid thinking it would serve us better, even paying extra for the KitchenAid name. I should have read the reviews!! I was hand washing it & the glass carafe broke! It makes really great tasting coffee, just wish the carafe was as great! Now I'll be paying another $23.00+ for a new carafe!

Spout broke a few weeks in

Submitted by modgirl - 12/29/2015

We do love this coffee maker but really wanted to find one that you can actually pour the coffee and NOT have it spill everywhere. Unfortunately this one spills too. We have to pour over the sink or it gets all over the counter every time. Then a couple weeks after purchasing the tip of the spout broke. (I always handwash it). Such a disappointment! Now I have to spend another twenty bucks after purchasing this unit just a few weeks ago. Bummer! If they could design a better carafe it would be perfect!

Bring a towel when you pour

Submitted by Steve - 12/3/2015

My wife and I bought this coffeemaker to replace our years old Cuisinart. We had purchased the same Cuisinart model twice in a row because it was a great, reliable coffeemaker. We changed it up on our last purchase with the Kitchenaid. The coffee is fine from the Kitchenaid, but I have to bring a paper towel EVERY TIME I pour a cup. Turns out that the lid and handle are attached just off center of the spout. This causes the coffee to hit the lid on the pour, and spill down the side. If I'm very careful, and lean the carafe to the right a bit, I can get away without a spill. It should just work. We'll be going back to the Cuisinart next time.

Drip Proof Spout - I Think Not

Submitted by AJAY - 11/16/2015

I've had this coffee pot for more than a year now, and recently had to replace the carafe. The new carafe is fine, it does not appear to be the thin, easily breakable carafe people have been talking about. That said, this is not a drip proof spout. Not a major deal, but a real pain to have to wipe up after every pour. This pot does make an excellent cup of coffee, but will be moving to back up position.

Cheap, thin glass

Submitted by tarheelrn23 - 3/17/2015

This is by far the best coffee maker I have ever owned. I have only had this one (it is my second Kitchen Aid coffee maker-- the first one worked for about three years and finally stopped working). My favorite part is the removable water tank. HOWEVER, the cheap and thin glass carafe that comes with this maker is horrible. I just finished breaking my third one--- if you even put it down ever so slightly hard on a hard surface countertop it breaks or cracks. The carafe is an extremely cheap part to this awesome machine and one can even tell this when you pick it up because it's so lightweight. There's no substance to the glass. I would advise anyone to get the insulated carafe, not glass. You are wasting your money.
