No the wire aren't really, really long. And it is not hugely loud. But for the money, it's a very good deal. My only complaint is the uneven sound levels. FM is *very* loud but the other inputs not so much. It should have enough juice - as per FM - but a poor front end design hampers it.

This product is pretty decent and not as bad as most reviews state it to be. The sound is pretty pretty good. Yes the system has only 1 audio input but this is what I did to get around the problem. I watch TV in 3 modes. 1. Roku for Netflix and other channels 2. DVD 3. Cable. Roku, Connected the Roku HDMI directly to TV for Video. For audio connected 3.5 inch cable to RCA cable that comes with Roku to hook up Roku to TV. Sound is great and Netflix supports 5.1 for many movies. Dont forget to change Audio settings in Roku to make it 5.1. If a netflix movie supports 5.1 you can set in in netflix DVD. Dont need to do anything. 5.1 works naturally Cable. Plug in Cable to the DVD receiver set and DVD HDMI to TV. Most cable connections provide 5.1 programming The only issue is when you are watching on the air channels. In that case the sound is probably 2.1 but I dont use the option so am not sure. Quality of sound is great and any louder will irate neighbors. Feel free to ask any questions! thanks Tim
