Sony Tablet S Review For starters the Sony S Tablet is the first tablet released by Sony Entertainment, This 9.4 inch screen is a great size tablet, as well as designed and programed to stand out from other tablets on the market. The look of the tablet is unique from the rest of the tablets on the market. The top of the tablet is a rounded 1 inch edge, while the bottom is around 1/4 to 1/2 inch. So that when you look at it from the side is give you a more triangle look, what this does is gives you and angled surface when laid flat and typing, as well as gives you a more firm grip when in portrait mode to give more of a book feel, making it more comfortable while reading e-books. The tablet has 2 cameras one on the front and one on the back however i was disappointed to see no flash from the camera. The sides of the tablet are recessed in hiding the buttons for power, and volume, as well as ports, such as the headphone jack, and under a little Tab is a SD card reader, and mini usb port. The charging port is on the bottom, however i was not thrilled about how the plug worked, this is because it feels loose. We do have the dock for the Tablet which make charging easy, as well as you can have the tablet when plugged in work as a clock or digital picture frame. Out of the box the Sony S Tablet comes with 3.1, but instantly ungraded to 3.2 Google Android Honeycomb Operating Systems. This already places the Sony S Tablet A head of Most Tablets on the market. Playing with the tablet is can see that Sony went the extra mile with this, not only does it have the Android Markets but Sony personalized applications. Sony gave this tablets Sony music unlimited and video unlimited subscription service. This tablets is also geared towards Sony PlayStation users, while it is still in development or beta, the Sony S Tablets are going to be capable of playing Sony PS1 and PSP games, having a full PlayStation game store. As of right now it does come with Crash Bandicoot. Another great feature on the device is that it has a inferred, which gives it full capability is being a universal remote for any brand TV, DVD, cable box, and any other audio/video devices. To further incorporate itself into your living room the Tablet is fully DLNA capable with other DLNA devices. The release of the Sony S Tablet came with exclusive rights to be the only tablet for a set amount of time to have Crackle Video service and Foursquare. As for hardware this device is comparable to most higher end Android tablets in terms that it is running a Tegra 2 dual core processor with 1 gigabyte of Ram. There is the 16 and 32 gigabyte storage that is expandable with a SD card. The camera's are rear 5mp and front is a 0.3mp for video chat. Much like most other tablets it comes with WiFi b/g/n and Blue-tooth 2.1, however is does lack a HDMI port or even attachment. This big question is that how does the Sony S Tablet stack up against other tablets? For a price tag starting at $499.99 i would say it is right up there with the iPad and Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1. The great thing about this device is you have the customization of being android with a smooth interface developed by Sony, much like the Samsung Galaxy tab. If i have not already owned the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 i would be at a loss trying to choose between the Samsung and Sony. The great thing is that Both Samsung and Sony are two electronic companies that are leading the industry from TV, DVD players, to Laptops and Now tablets. This is another device i would recommend over the iPad and iPad2. One thing that would make me choose the Samsung over the Sony is the accessories for example the Samsung Keyboard dock, HDMI, USB, and Memory Card adapters. The Sony S Tablets come highly recommended as a tablet to purchase for your home.

The throw feature would be cool if it could be thrown to my tv or even the ps3 which it cant since it only acts as a dlna client. Maybe there is some fancy way to get around it but for the price I expect it out of the box. It throws to my computer, but if I wanted to see them there I would just look at them on there without this. Have a sony camera that does hd movies, and cant even view them on here as its not compatible. Tablet has potential with updates maybe, but needs to become compatible with other sony devices...

The only thing to say about the Sony Tablet S is attention to the your wifi router!! I had an old fashioned G-generation wifi router and the tablet couldn't hold its connection. After spending 2 nights with Sony and Comcast call center, I almost gave up, went to hhgregg at Avon to return it, and the guy there explained me the wifi technology really matters to tablets, and made me buy a N-generation router. After installing it, my Sony tablet never had any other problem.
The tablet itself is great, all I expected from it. Its cons does not apply to the the model, but the whole category in general. It is hard to get used to fingertips when you used mouses for so long.

This is my first tablet device from Sony. The first and the fore most thing that I love with this tablet is due to its built-in cool apps. With the Voice search, you can search file in the storage by just talking. Other is its Playstation interface which is delight full for gaming interface. Finally, there are no words to describe my awesome, cool Tablet. Thanks SONY and it is perfect for this era!!!!!!!!

Got it as an alternative to iPad my wife already had since some features such as flash were a breaking point to my web related work. It is very enjoyable to see the web pages loading in exactly the same way as they do on a desk top. Overall I like the product, but I wish the developing team could pay more attention to things like the charging cable. Why oh why you had to make a separate cords and a box? Could be better to have just one! Other than that, yep I like it and I am taking it to my vocation destination to read the news and to watch the Netflix in the evening. Thanks SONY!

Sony Tablet S is the best tablet I ever used! Better than any other tablet. I have had this tablet since November of 2011 and absolutely love it! I use it for everything and have barely used my home PC since the purchase. I even use it for remote desktop with my work PC. I have not had any issues with battery life and the AC adapter is not really an issue for me. Thank you Sony for the great product! I think this is so much better than the IPAD!

No Car Charger - NO USB charging

A great device hamstrung my Sony's dumb use of a custom connector and NO usb charging. Also, come clever person at Sony has decided that a mobile device like this does NOT need a car charger. Doh, doh and Super Doh. I think even Homer Simpson would not be that dopey! Seriously guys, you dont have kids who need entertaining in the back of the car. Oh yes, I must remember to keep the Tablet fully charged before any car journey!
