I researched this refrigerator quite extensively. A top rated consumer magazine rates this refrigerator very high (as well as a best buy) as do other online rating websites. It receives consistent, favorable reviews across the Internet and other media.
We have had this refrigerator for about a month now. There have been no issues to date and it's performing as expected. It actually looks better in our house than it did on the showroom floor. It adds to the overall look of our kitchen...it's a handsome appliance if there is such a term. It adds a modern, sophisticated feel.
Here are some observations so far:
1. It is very quiet. However, there is a very subtle vibrating noise that just may be part of it's normal operation;
2. The LED lighting is great. Some reviewers / comments state that it's "darker" than conventional lighting. It is not "darker" at all. It's actually very bright but the brightness can be diffused a bit depending on how much food you have in the fridge since the LED lighting runs along the back (tower lighting);
3. It takes a little effort to keep the stainless steel clean. It does show finger prints. We have bought some stainless steel polish / cleaner and that does the trick. We clean the steel maybe once a week. It is a very attractive appliance;
4. The stainless steel does scratch easily. We have a small scratch on the right handle. We think my wife's ring hit it. So, just be careful and aware of that possibility;
5. The ice maker and water/ice dispenser work just fine. Yes, you can hear the cubes dropping into the ice holder, but it's not that loud. There is a noise that happens when the ice trays are being filled with water but again, it's nothing abnormal ... just part if it's normal operation. The ice dispenses fairly quickly ... faster than our old Kenmore;
6. We like the fact that you can turn on the LED that lights up the water / ice dispenser area. It's a nice touch. The control panel itself is sleek and modern and well designed. You do have to press a button for ice and then another button for water. That's not a big deal to us;
7. The inside is nice. The shelves seem sturdy to us. It appears that the shelves are deeper but not as wide as our Kenmore. The crisper drawers are definitely deeper, but not as wide. This is not a con, just a different configuration that we tend to like;
8. The ways the doors swing open is nice ... very smooth and tend to open "wider" based on how the hinges work. They close just as smooth;
9. It fits well into a smaller kitchen. It does not stick out that far past our cabinets on the right side. It is no bigger than our old Kenmore in terms of it's footprint, but it holds more inside due to better design and deeper shelving.
10. The built-in water filter seems to work great. The water that is dispensed tastes very good ... just as good, if not better, than the Brita water pitcher we have.
Only time will tell how this refrigerator holds up. We had our Kenmore for 12 years (until the compressor went out). We hope we at least get that with this one.

I contacted Samsung and they made me wait 5 days for a technician to come out and replace the "evaporator" on the fridge. They would not reimburse me for the food that I lost or the inconvenience of not having a refrigerator for 5 days. Now I am stuck with a new refrigerator that has been repaired with only 3 months left on the warranty! I will never buy another Samsung product again!

We loved the look and functionality of the Samsung line compared to competitors in this price range and seeing as how we needed the whole group, we wanted to match all 4 pieces. This refrigrator in particular came highly rated on Consumer Reports as well as HH Gregg's website which is what led us to purchase in the first place.
I was very disappointed because I thought I was getting my perfect refrigetator. I can't believe people review this refrigerator as "quiet"! It is extremely loud when the compressor kicks on- so much so that it wakes us up at night and our bedroom is across the house. In general, it runs loud all the time (some people referring to as a high-pitching humming). I'm hoping this will get better when we install a refrigerator panel around it to block some of the noise.
Additionally, the way the Samsung lays the stainless still is very disappointing. I have gone through 3 freezer doors (the defect is only on the freezer doors and I have noticed it on 5 different ones I have seen in person). There is a "dimple" in the left corner front where the door is hung. I can see this is something some people can live with but the way the lighting is in our house, it looks like we purchased a scratch-and-dent floor model. Some are worse then others.
The reason I kept instead of swapping out is because the functionality and features of the entire group outweigh the aesthetics of the flaws on the stainless.
HH Gregg has been very kind and patient in dealing with our frustrations over the appearance of this group. I will definitely continue to purchase our appliances and electronics because their customer service is impecable.

Noisy ice maker. Already had service man out. Lighting is so poor and shelves so deep you can't see what's in the back. Very easy to dent doors and scratch. Already moved to the garage as a 2nd fridge.

this is the wrost appliance i have ever purchased i bought this in oct 2012 i had to have sevice twice for the same problem,the customer service warranty is the wrost.they ordered a part for the refrigerator and now I have to wait 5 days and my food is spoiling I am so frustrated.

This refrigerator is very deep and keeps items very cold. Love that it has three drawers instead of the normal two. Shelving options are limited but was finally able to make one shelf tall enough to hold beer bottles. Love the icemaker being on the door so that you have more shelf space and that the freezer has drawers for small loose items.

I bought this refrigerator to replace my old one. It was 20 years old. I liked the design and options. The only thing I don't like about the fridge is that it shows every smudge and smear. I researched it on the internet before buying. People that had purchased the fridge were very unhappy with the way the ice comes out into the glass. I don't know how they are holding their glasses but my 6 year old grandson didn't have a problem with ice going all over the floor. If you hold the glass to long and move your glass to quick you will get a piece of ice or two on the floor. It's a really good product. I have been real happy so far.

I love the ice maker in the door; my husband does not because he likes to reach in and grab ice for his already poured drink as the ice melts. (He doesn't use ice maker on glasses that have a drink in them already.)
We like to stack our Coke cans and cannot - shelving options are limited unless the wine rack is removed.

A:
