The overall width, measured in inches.
A camera's CCD consists of several hundred thousand pixels, short for picture element, each one building up a tiny charge of electricity in response to the light it "sees." The more pixels a CCD has, the higher its resolution.
The diagonal measurement of the charged coupled device, the camera's image sensing element. The CCD's job is to convert light to electrical energy, which can then be stored in the camera's memory.
The more pixels a CCD has, the higher its resolution. The effective pixel count is the number of pixels that are actually used when a picture is taken. Effective pixel count is a more accurate way to assess a camera's capacity.
The number of pixels used for the sharpest image. Using the highest resolution will use more memory.
Image format is what is used to record and store the pictures. JPEG is a compressed format, so you can store more images per megabyte of memory. TIFF is an uncompressed format, giving you very high quality images. MPEG is a compressed moving image.
The difference, expressed in f-stop numbers, between a camera's largest and smallest aperture (lens opening) setting. The greater this range, the more manual control and creative license available to the photographer.
The camera has a built-in flash for low-light photography.
The ability to magnify your subject for close-ups, or pull back for wide shots. Digital zoom can provide greater magnification, but with some degradation of the image.
The LCD display's size, measured diagonally, in inches.
Translation of camera's actual focal length into more familiar numbers associated with 35mm photography. Focal length determines field of view and usually expressed as a range, such as 28mm - 200mm, to account for zooming capability of camera's lens.
Manual exposure gives you more precise control over aperture, shutter speed, and sensitivity settings, so that you can tailor the exposure to fit your surroundings and give you the results you desire.
Manual focus lets you focus manually with a smooth, "hands-on" feel that's similar to using a 35mm camera.
The ability to magnify your subject for close-ups, or pull back for wide shots. Most current cameras include a variable optical zoom lens.
White balance (WB) is the process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo.
The type and size of memory media that is included with the camera.
Memory that is non-removable and built directly into a digital camera or camcorder (usually a type of flash memory).
Memory that is removable from the camera. This can be a floppy disc, Memory Stick, CompactFlash card, multi-media flash card, smart media flash card, SD flash card, or CD-R/W.
The camera's weight with the battery installed, measured in ounces.
The weight of the camera without the battery, measured in ounces.

We looked for a camera with a nice resolution ( 10mp+, but just about all cameras have that now) and a good zoom (10x+ and here's the catch...) for $100. We first checked around and found only a few at that price, but they took way too long to take the shot and if you are trying to snag that perfect photo of your young children, any wait is too long. This camera came on sale and is everything we could ask for. Easy to use. FAST. Clear. Small. Just all round awesome. And I went out of my way to buy it with a plan at HHGregg, because of their consistent service. My wife bought a GPS to help her make the trip to my posting in Georgia, and it broke three months in. No questions, they found itand the plan in their systems (in another state, mind you), swapped it for a newer, much nicer model and sent me out with just a signature and a smile. I may be deploying to Germany, but if I EVER need electronics again, I am checking HHGregg first. Top stars both to the camera and the store!

It works very well outdoors or in a well lit room. The battery lasts a very long time on a single charge. I used it at a wedding last weekend with mixed results. It has many different settings that I'm not up to speed on, so it may do better in a large room when it's not set on Auto. I actually didn't notice when I bought it, but there's no view finder, only the LCD screen. Sometimes you really need a view finder. If you're taking flash pictures within ten feet of your subject or shooting outdoors, it should work fine for you.

Comments about Olympus 14 Megapixel Black Camera with 12.5x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom:
I bought this camera for taking pics. when I go traveling around the world and for fishing . I go to a lot of out of the way places fishing not only in this country but out and I have been very happy with the way this camera dose it's job very good. I take pics. of fish in action like when a taron is jumping 6 feet out of the water or a snook is doing the same or just to take a pic. of my catch and so far this camera is great. I have owned several olyupus cameras over the years and have really been happy with all of them no problems at all. this camera I rate at a 10 for every type of pic. taken.

Great camera for the price. I use this for construction before/after pictures and sometimes it can be tough to get a good shot that you want to speak a thousand words. This is a good, lightweight, easy-to-use camera that does all that.

I bought this camera october 6th. 2012. It has survived a week of droping it on the floor, dog got ahold of it and it takes very great photos! i am very impressed! i got this carmer from hhgreg. it was a open box that i got, and i got a 10% discount, it was the only one in the store. Not to mention it was on sale for half off. Really i thought i was getting any ordanary camera. Butit turns out that i would buy it again. no problamo. The photos it takes are cristal clear, even on zoom, it can rewind videos backwards, (kinda fun to watch you run backwards) and you caan plug the carmera to the tv, and take photos or share them with the family. i used this camrea outside and it worked great.
