This is my first plasma TV, and I dont know why people are so gaga over LED. This plasma is has better resolution and a much better refresh rate giving the picture more vibrancy and a near blur free screen. The sound on this LG model is really good, although I do find my previous Vizio television to be better in this department. I really like how the picture adjusts itself to the light, and the picture features I can change it to if I'm watching a movie, or a game for example. But I just cant rave enough about the picture quality. I believe its 3,000,000:1 resolution, and the black and white levels are defined well. I also enjoy how thin it is, so even though its 50" the TV doesnt take up that much room. If you are really into Blu rays or sports this the TV you should get. The 1080p picture, and 600Hz refresh rate makes blu ray and sporting games look absolutely amazing. Definitely a TV for the man cave! Go buy this immediately!

I bought this TV online because the title of the Google search result for the link to the LG site said "LG 50PA6500: 50 inch Class 3D capable 1080P Plasma TV with ...". Note the "3D capable" part, which also displays in the browser tab when you visit the LG site. I bought the TV expecting 3D and was disappointed to find it didn't have it. I contacted LG and their response was essentially, "We'll fix our web page...thanks." No recognition that I paid for one thing and got cheated. No offer to resolve the situation. Just "too bad for you". We have one other LG TV and an LG washer and dryer. I've been an LG fan for years but no more. This company does not care about fixing mistakes that ripoff its customers.

At the sweet spot of performance and price

Comments about LG 50" Class 1080p Plasma HDTV (49.9" actual diagonal size):
We've had our new 50" LG plasma TV for about a month now and we are thoroughly enjoying it. We're feeding it with digital cable and the images are phenomenal. Some of the features that we've already found useful are the Cinema Zoom to fill the screen with a DVD image that is HD aspect ratio but with box bars on all four sides, and the feature of setting image size automatically according to broadcast. We tweaked on the default brightness/contrast settings to get just the picture we wanted, and adjusted audio tone settings to our preferences. Over all really happy with the product. By the way, the narrow frame around the screen is a definite styling plus. Our only negative is one that comes with all plasma TV's: the screen glass is mirror finish, so reflections from lights and windows can be bothersome. But that just comes with the territory. We could have purchased even better performance by paying a lot more money, but this unit is at the sweet spot of performance and price. Love it!

I'm a no frills kind of person. 3D - Gives me headaches. Smart Functions - Hate them. Streaming Media - Who wants to watch standard definition content on a HDTV? I just hook up my Blu-ray player and receiver and I'm good to go. This television is perfect for my needs. Just calibrated and it blows away sets costing twice as much.

Comments about LG 50" Class 1080p Plasma HDTV (49.9" actual diagonal size):
This product is a great for the price, but beware the sound quality is not so great. I get a vibration or treble noise when watching blu ray dvds, even though I have it connect through HDMI cable I tried adjust the treble but still no better results so I just decrease the volume until it stops. Also you may not want to place this tv in a room with windows because you will get a glare from the protective screen.

Purchase the 50PA6500 50" plasma set three weeks ago. The setup was fast, unclomplicated, and the picture quality was easy to manipulate with the onscreen control. Am very pleased with the result. I did overide the energy limiting feature because I prefer an image other than the limiting control of the energy saver. That was easy to do and I can match any set out there in color and brightness in the price range that I paid.

Purchased this TV in July of 2012 it is now Christmas morning and TV will not stay turned on. Prior to the TVs demise it worked well enough, though the sound quality was terrible, picture quality was good. I guess the only plus side is that I called customer service and set up a repair, considering it was Christmas morning I was surprised to get a person on the line.
