Comments about Hisense 50" 3D 1080p LED Smart HDTV:
So I did a lot of back on forth trying to decide on which TV to buy - and settled on this one. It looked like the most bang for my buck (3d, smart tv, etc).
I must say that getting it home I am extremely happy to have this TV. It's picture is great, the features are awesome, and it works amazingly.
There are really only 2 drawbacks I have with the TV - 1, the sound is very low. I have had to turn it up to the max to get the volume to a good level. It won't be a problem once I hook up surround, but for the average user, be aware that the volume isn't that great. 2 - The set was heavier than I anticipated. That's no real problem, because it is what it is. However I was replacing a 47in LCD which I was easily able to manage by myself. This was a good bit heavier, it surprised me - and since I was setting it up by myself, made it a bit of a process. However, I got it set up and it works beautifully.
This is a great TV and I would recommend it to anyone!

Q:
Does this TV use active or passive 3D technology? In other words, what kind of glasses are required for 3D?Asked on 6/27/2012 by dugwood2 from Drummonds, TNKnow the answer? Answer this question
2 answers
A:
I know a little about the 3D technologies used on current LED HD 3D televisions, both active and passive. For anyone reading this question and answers, I would like to clear up some of the info listed here in the second answer by "community, none". The first answer was 100% correct.
The second answer however, was incorrect about the active glasses and technology. The answer stated that any brand active shutter glasses will work on this television. That is not true. In fact, almost no other brand will work with this TV. Many brands have different model glasses for each model TV set series. In other words, not only must you get Sony brand active 3D glasses for your Sony television, but you must also make sure you get the correct model glasses. All Sony active shutter 3D glasses will not work on all Sony active shutter 3D televisions. They have different models for different series televisions.
Also, all passive 3D glasses do not work on all passive 3D television. But many will.Answered on 7/12/2012 by dugwood2 from Drummonds, TNA:
The K316 Series uses Active (Shutter Glass) 3D technology to display full high definition 3D images. Eyewear is the same for all passive 3D technology however, for active 3D technology each manufacturer has its own eyewear (none of the major brands are interchangeable). Active 3D eyewear connects to the TV using either Infrared (IR) or Radio Frequency (RF) wireless technology (again, not interchangeable). RF provides better range, angle and performance. The correct 3D Glasses for the K316 Series is Hisense model number FPS3D05 sold through hhgregg stores (UPC 8 54098 00324 1). They come in a convenient two pack and are rechargeable, RF Sync, Active Shutter Glasses with Auto On/Off.Answered on 7/6/2012 by n_jin06 from Suwanee, GA
