After reading several reviews on wine refrigerators I made what I thought was an informed decision. As it turns out the Frigidaire model I bought could not hold a temperature anywhere close to what I wanted, it fluctuated 12-14 degrees from the setting which is awful for wine storage. This Danby unit is great, both zones fluctuate only about 1-2 degrees at most which is fine for me. I bought 2 small combination temp/humidity monitors to test the accuracy of the fridge settings and it's almost dead on. It looks good and is as quiet as I thought it would be. One last point...by from a store not on line. If you have to return an appliance you bought on line it's a nightmare! Buy from store and you can return it easily if you are not happy with it.

This is an attractive unit. It generally holds temperature, but occasionally seems to change the settings on its own (the digital display sometimes indicates unintended temperature settings) and the temperature drops in both regions. My unit also has some minor material defects associated with the interior lighting.
The shelves are attractive, but good luck getting 38 full-sized bottles into this unit. The bottom two shelves have a reduced depth to accommodate the compressor in the base of the unit. They are supposed to hold 5 bottles each. However, any full-sized bottles that I've attempted to place there have extended beyond the edge of the shelf, preventing the door from closing. I'm using them for half-sized bottles. The other 4 shelves (supposed to hold 7 bottles each) also have limitations. Only the top shelf has sufficient clearance for larger diameter bottles - such as for Pinot Noir or Petite Sirah. The good news is that the shape of those bottles has allowed me to get 7 bottles on the top shelf (in the white wine zone). But again, that's the only shelf where they'll fit, and I have only managed a max of 5 or 6 bottles (for example for Cabernet Sauvignon) on the other 3 full-depth shelves.
As indicated, the unit is pretty noisy whenever the compressor goes on. I also have the impression that there's a good deal of energy loss due to the glass door, but I haven't had the unit long enough to comment on running cost - or on reliability. All things considered, the performace is reasonable for the cost - but I also can't give it a good recommendation.

I purchased mine just last night. The salesman brought it right out of the store, and helped to load it in the back of the SUV, so there's no damage. It's perfect for under counter height. Holds 38 bottles of wine, which is perfect, really more than enough for me.My purchase of wine is for me and friends to drink, not as an investment, so as long as it cools it, that's all I want. If it makes any noise at all, perhaps a low hum, it's in my pantry, so any noise or light isn't a bother. I had gone thru an online retailer for a different wine fridge, it arrived - well, the door was busted off, all dented, the box very damaged, so we returned it, and received full money back. I checked on another online site, named after a river, found the Danby 38 bottle wine cooler, it had 3 bad reviews, also priced higher there than here, but the bad reviews were all due to damage from shipment. So, we decided to look off the internet, since you can blame that damage on either shipping or the warehouse. We purchased it right out of the store. No damage. And great salesman at the Cranberry / Seven Fields store.

Comments about Danby Stainless Steel 38-Bottle Wine Cellar:
After reading several reviews on wine refrigerators I made what I thought was an informed decision. As it turns out the Frigidaire model I bought could not hold a temperature anywhere close to what I wanted, it fluctuated 12-14 degrees from the setting which is awful for wine storage. This Danby unit is great, both zones fluctuate only about 1-2 degrees at most which is fine for me. I bought 2 small combination temp/humidity monitors to test the accuracy of the fridge settings and it's almost dead on. It looks good and is as quiet as I thought it would be. One last point...by from a store not on line. If you have to return an appliance you bought on line it's a nightmare! Buy from store and you can return it easily if you are not happy with it.

This Danby wine cellar can be placed under a countertop, however there needs to be 5 inches of space between the back of the appliance and any adjacent wall, 5" of space between the left hand side the wall and 13 1/4" of space on the right hand side to accommodate door swing.
