What is hhgregg's return and exchange policy?

Store Closing Event - All Sales Final

Effective March 21st, 2017, we will no longer be able to accept returns or exchanges for purchases made prior to March 3, 2017.

We can no longer honor price adjustments, coupons, or any other advertised prices offered at other hhgregg location or website.

After March 21st, 2017, no returns will be accepted in accordance with the US Bankruptcy Court Order

For purchases made after March 3rd, returns may be made only for merchandise having latent defect, when returned within 7 days of purchase accompanied by the sales receipt

Refund Method

With a few exceptions, refunds will be made using the same payment method as the original purchase. Refunds over $250 will be made by check within 30 business days if the original purchase was made with cash or check. If the original purchase was made using a credit card, debit card or hhgregg card, the refund will be given through a credit to the original account. PayPal refunds will be made by check within 30 business days. Purchases made with an hhgregg® store credit or gift card may be refunded as a store credit. Please allow 10 to 14 business days for processing online refunds or exchanges. For purchases by check, refunds will be made by check and are subject to confirmation that your check has cleared.

We reserve the right to ask for a valid government-issued photo ID with any return or exchange.

Shipping & Pickup In-store

hhgregg will no longer offer shipping services starting April 8, 2017. Please visit your local hhgregg store.

Pickup In-Store

1. From a specific product detail page, enter your zip code to check the availability of the product that you wish to purchase. If you are a registered user, and are logged in, your zip code will already be visible and your fulfillment options will be displayed.

2. Next, choose the Pickup In-Store fulfillment option and select the store where you want to pick up your purchase. The following pickup options are available:

  • Pickup In-Store– Place your order online and pick it up at a local hhgregg store where the product is available today!

3. Complete your order.

4. Wait to receive the following e-mail confirmations before heading to the store:

  • Order confirmation – Verification that we have received your order.
  • Ready for pickup – Confirmation that your item is ready for pickup. Pickup In-store orders are typically available for pickup within approximately one hour.

In order to pick up your online purchase, you will need to take the following items to the store:

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • Your order number
  • The credit card used to make the purchase

You may also designate an alternate person to pick up your order. The alternate person must have a government issued photo ID and the order number.

Upon arrival at the store, locate the Customer Service counter and let an hhgregg associate know that you are there to pick up your online purchase. Your order will be held at the pickup store for 30 days. To ensure your security, if you do not pick up your order within this timeframe, we will cancel the order and issue a refund in the original form of payment.

Sales Tax Policies

Taxable States

hhgregg is required to charge sales tax for online customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D.C, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Payment Method Restrictions For Tax Exempt Purchases

Many states require organizations, schools, churches and hospitals to use organizational funds. This means that the credit card used must be issued by the organization to receive tax exempt status. The personal credit card of an employee working for a tax exempt organization cannot be used.

How to Receive an Updated Receipt

If you need a receipt for your records that reflects the tax exempt refund you received, please call us at 1-866-974-7344, Monday through Friday 8am to 7pm (EST), Saturday 10am to 7pm or Sunday 10am to 6pm, or use our Contact Us form to contact customer service.

How Tax Is Calculated

The tax rate is based on the local sales tax of the zip code of your shipping address. No sales tax will be charged for customers who reside outside the above-mentioned states.

Repair Plan Coverage

Services covered by our Premium Service Plan include:

  • 100% Coverage on Parts & Labor: Covers mechanical and electrical breakdowns - even those due to normal wear & tear.
  • No Deductibles: No hidden charges or fees.
  • In-Home Service: Professional service technicans to repair your product in the comfort of your home
  • No Lemon Guarantee: If your covered product requires more than three repairs for the same defect, we'll replace it.
  • Up to 10 years of Coverage on Major Components for selected Items: Includes major products, such as home appliances, consumer electronics, etc.
  • Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH): In the normal and customary use of products, damages can occur. ADH covers your cameras, camcorders and other select products from breakdowns due to drops, spills, cracked lenses and screens.
  • Power Surge Protection: Breakdowns resulting from power surges are covered. Manufacturer's warranties do not offer this protection.
  • Food Spoilage: In the event that your refrigerator or freezer fails to cool, due to functional part failure, you may qualify for up to $250 toward your food loss replacement.
  • Transferable: Coverage is transferable if the product is sold or given as a gift, at no extra charge.
