This TV is a fantastic TV for the price. I purchased it several days after it became available in my store, and while I was hesitant to buy because of a lack of reviews online, I'm thrilled with my purchase.
The TV comes with a swivel stand that is easy to put together and easy to take apart. I initially had mine on a stand, but have since moved it to a wall where it looks beautiful. It has a slim profile that makes it easy to hang and obviously, makes it more attractive as a design feature than thicker, heavier TV's.
Initial set-up was easy. On a previous TV I had to spend a bit of time adjusting the settings to find an attractive picture, however this one was nearly perfect from the start. For a home theater, you may want to purchase a separate surround sound system, but for the casual user, the sound on the TV alone is more than adequate. The remote is fairly boring, but given that most people use a universal remote, the design is hardly important.
The only mild problem I have is that it can take up to 10 seconds to turn on or even acknowledge that you've pressed the power button. I push "power", wait up to 10 seconds, and only then does the light on the bottom of the TV blink as if it's receiving the signal. Now that I know this though, it's hardly an issue, however the first several days I was a bit concerned that my TV wasn't going to turn on at all a few times.
Overall, this is a fantastic TV with a great picture and well worth the price.

Comments about Coby 55" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV:
The base was difficult to install because the pedestal was swiveled to the wrong position, and after 30 minutes of messing with it, I loosened the screws to the circular metal plate, rotated the collar to the correct position, and then the positioning pins in the base seated properly.
The built-in speakers are not that great. I had trouble finding the audio output jack; the instruction manual is not very clear. I had to go to the Coby web site to look up this TV (their top-of-the-line model) to confirm that it indeed had a digital sound output. It looks like a standard RCA jack, but it's labeled "coaxial" on the back panel. Buy a digital sound coaxial cable from Radio Shack to connect the coaxial jack to your home theater receiver, or to a soundbar speaker system (make sure it has a coaxial digital input). Great TV!

I purchased this TV having read about the sound quality and as I thought all you need to do is go into setup and choose news for the sound.
At that point it sounded pretty good, not the best but really pretty good.
All in all I can't tell the difference between this Coby or my friends Sony.

I would love to rate this TV higher, but the sound is so poor that I just can't. I was going to buy a sound bar to make the tv worth keeping, but the connectivity to the TV itself is poor also. I have to run the external sound through my satelite receiver and blue ray just to tolerate the TV.

A:
While you may be able to tell a difference between 120Hz and 240H for sports or action movies on DVDs or Blu-Rays, most people can't tell any difference when it's used for gaming. Most game systems (and the games that go along with them) are geared for 60Hz, so going up to a 240Hz TV that would mainly be used for gaming wouldn't be worth it.Answered on 6/27/2012 by Community Answer from None
